AIA NH 2010 Excellence in Architecture Awards Honor Award

The town of Windham, New Hampshire created this new high school in 2009 for its 800+ students who had previously attended high school in a neighboring town.

With sitework already underway, the design team completed programming, design, and construction documentation with an extremely compressed schedule.

The strong angular geometry of the entrance canopy and roof forms welcomes students into a light-filled atrium punctuated with colorful geometrical accents. This "Main Street" connects the classroom wings, auditorium, gym, and cafeteria as a lively forum for interaction and socialization.

In 2008-2009, Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire constructed two new residence halls to house more of its students on campus. Pondside III offers residence suites in a variety of configurations for students to share living space with friends or a special interest group.

The bold modern design is a composition of stone and brick residence wings intersected by transparent common areas, visible from inside and out.

These gathering areas include study spaces, a game room, and a shared kitchen to accommodate organized activities and foster unexpected interactions.

Pondside III achieved LEED Silver certification through diligent planning and rigorous documentation of its sustainable design features during design and construction administration.

Butler Court Residence Hall

One of two new residence halls constructed on Keene State College's campus, Butler Court houses students in convivial suites of rooms around a landscaped courtyard.

The contemporary brick exterior is punctuated by prominent glazed elements expressing common areas and circulation. Inviting wood and slate interiors are activated by colorful accent walls, creating lively spaces for social interaction.

Dartmouth Medical School · Lab Master Plan

Tim's Role: Existing Space Documentation • BIM Model and Analysis

The project team documented 700,000 SF of laboratory space for Dartmouth Medical School on the Dartmouth College campus and at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The team created an interactive Building Information Model (BIM) using Autodesk Revit software to index key attributes of the space usage. This defined how much square footage and bench length was assigned to each department and Principal Investigator, along with an inventory of built-in equipment. This information is meaningful in applications for research grant dollars.

The visual representation of the Building Information Model, combined with summary schedules of information generated from the model, facilitated master planning efforts for optimizing space configuration. The model can be continually updated by facilities staff to track future space changes.
